Squirrel Fur
Fur often requires a lot of resources and takes a long time to render, especially when it covers the entire character. Initially, I used thin, densely distributed fur and attempted to brush it to look more like the source, but since I did not have access to render farms and was only working locally, my resources were too limited to make it dense enough. It created bald spots and was very slow to render.
As a solution, I made the fur thicker and kept it a bit puffy, instead of brushing it. It took a bit of playing around to find the right balance that kept it looking good and not too resource heavy.
Tree Trunk Texture
My goal was to add ridges to the outer bark and give the ridges a bit of a rough texture. I used a combination of textures and colors to accomplish this. The ridges were created with one texture node and the roughness was created with another texture node. I also mixed 2 different shaders.
